In this clinic we will learn to paddle board!! In this 60 minute session on the water we will work on balance, learn how to stand-up, best techniques to paddle and even practice some yoga moves on the board.
Afterwards, join us for some refreshments and listen to Morgan Tilton’s amazing story of her self-supported journey paddling down the Escalante River: one of the wildest stretches of whitewater in one of the most remote wilderness areas in the lower 48.
More about Morgan and her paddling experience:
An award-winning journalist, Morgan Tilton is a Bronze medalist and two-time Finalist of the 2015 North American Travel Journalists Association Awards Competition for her travel writing. She covers adventure, travel, business, and outdoor community trends with work that has been featured in Backpacker, TransWorld Snowboarding, EnCompass, 5280 (Denver’s city magazine), and CoBiz among others. Raised in Colorado’s stunning San Juan Mountains, she’s also a mountain-ultra-trail runner, snowboarder, traveler and peak bagger that loves Bluegrass shows, avocados and trucker hats. Her most recent summit: she and four paddlers made the first SUP descent of Utah’s wild Escalante River.
In May 2016, Morgan and four paddlers completed the first-descent on SUP of the Escalante River: one of the wildest stretches of whitewater in one of the most remote wilderness areas in the lower 48. They paddled unsupported for seven days across 100 miles through Class III-V rapids—and a finished with more than a few stories to share. The December 2016 issue of SUP Magazine debuted Morgan’s written feature accompanied by images from Adventure Photographer Dylan Brown—the trip leader—who is also releasing a short documentary film in 2017.
